Have you ever caught a bug or a fish? Perhaps you have dug up an unidentified fossil? Once you have helped Blathers set up the island’s museum, any interesting specimens you find will be easily identified and can be put on display for the whole community to appreciate.
Blathers’ Tent
The Museum will start off as a humble tent, which you are able to build anywhere you would like on the island. Here you will meet Blathers, who will give you the DIY Recipes for the flimsy shovel and vaulting pole when you speak to him for the first time. Afterwards, you will be able to start donating any critters you find to contribute to the Museum’s collection of exhibits. Additionally, Blathers can also assess whatever fossils you may bring him and add any new ones to the collection.
The Full Museum
Once Blathers has received a combined total of 15 donations, be they fish, bugs or fossils, construction will immediately begin on your island’s new cultural hub – a fully sized, impressive Museum. It comes fully equipped with space for every fossil and critter you can find on the island, meaning no further upgrades to the building are necessary.
Gulliver
When taking a stroll across your beach, you may encounter Gulliver, a seasoned sailor who has a knack of falling overboard and being cast ashore. You can find him washed up on your shore on a weekday between 5am and 5am the next day. This gull might seem clueless, but he is great with technology. He even has his own communicator… ah, wait. He has damaged it! When you meet him, you may find yourself needing to lend him a hand and help him recover its pieces. Don’t worry though, he is sure to reward you.
Biography
Birthday: May 25th
First Appearance: Animal Crossing (2001)
Washing up on shore in Animal Crossing (2001), Gulliver would reveal that he had fallen overboard. After speaking to him for enough time, he would reward you with a rare souvenir from a faraway land that you could place inside of your home. In later games, Gulliver could be found flying a UFO that you could shoot down using your Slingshot; does this make Gulliver an alien? We are not sure we want to know.
Island Role
To find all of Gulliver’s components, you will need to scour your beaches. Make your way around the island and you may see a little burst of water come up from under the sand. Dig at this spot, and you will have a chance of recovering a component. You will need to recover a total of five components, so keep going until you find all the pieces. Make sure to take a look far and wide – these pieces could be quite far from where you initially found Gulliver. If you don’t finish this by the end of the day, Gulliver will leave, and you won’t be able to complete his task until he returns again.
Once you have collected all 5 components, Gulliver will thank you and reward you with an exotic souvenir that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. It will show up in your mailbox the next day, after his friends have picked him up. You can place your new item in your home or outside, so decide where it best fits and show off your new souvenir to everyone on the island. You will also find a rusted part in the recycle box on the day after helping Gulliver.
